Rabi'atu Lawal
Federal University Dutse, Dutse

Hausa performance poetry possess all the beauty of language, content and style associated with the best written poetry, thus, its beauty resonates across all cultural frontiers. Hausa perfirmance poetry exceptionally often reveal a stylized use of syntax and diction. The words chosen, the order, rate and pattern in which they occur are extremely poles apart from the normal method of speech. This stylization which may be conscious or unconscious imposes a peculiar artistic quality upon the given composition of poems. These stylistic effects are also responsible for the achieved aesthetic effects of tne given poetry. Furthermore, the imaginative use of language is a persistent aspect of the creativity of expressions like simile, metaphors and symbols to express the poet's ideas and his/ the society's experiences. Hence, this paper intends to bring to the fore some form and stylistic features of some selected Hausa performance poetry.
