Means, methods and motives in African diasporic biography in Britain 1770 to the early twentieth century.

This paper reflects on the process of collecting material on and encapsulating the experiences of Africans and black people of the diaspora living in Britain, who wrote and published books, were students, clergy and missionaries, and children attending British schools. Specific focus will be on the following Africans: John Jea, Alice Kinloch, Thomas Brem Wilson, Adelaide Smith Casely Hayford and A.B.C. Merriman Labor.
