A Sea vodun in the Slave Trade: the example of Adantoxu leadership at the slaving port of Ouidah (XVIII or XIX century)
Since Ouidah 92, Festival of Vodun Arts and Cultures, Ouidah’s former slave trading post has been the focus of a number of heritage activities. Returning to the sea procession and ritualile kuta/xuta yiyi in a history of long duration should demonstrate how the religious heritage is constantly reconstructed and in the case of this ritual, the role it played and is still playing in the South Atlantic space.
