Practical exercises on sensation and perception: Come by and try it yourself
Mon-Main hall - Z3-Poster 1-2808
Presented by: Lisa Sophie Kaupert
Would you like to try miracle berries that make everything taste different? Or take a look through upside-down goggles? Do you like to compete against other conference attendees in our smell quiz and win a cool prize? This is part one of a two-part poster, in which we present an article that was recently accepted for publication in the special issue of Visual Cognition about teaching sensation and perception. In the article, we describe practical exercises that cover all the classic topics in the curriculum (vision, hearing, smell, taste, and touch) and work best in small groups of up to ten students. They last between 5 and 45 min and range from short demonstrations on depth perception and sound source localization to more elaborate setups such as a double-blind taste test and an obstacle course with upside-down goggles. This is the interactive part where you can try out some of the activities for yourself. If you are also interested in the theoretical background, make sure to check out part two as well. We are looking forward to seeing you!
