The extended use of the Internet of Things (IoT) in order to produce trusted smart statistics (TSS) was explored in a 1-year, multinational project. The development of TSS aims for data that might be pre-processed by the data providers or data sources ready to use for official statistics, which usually means the combination with already used survey and/or administrative data.

In this regard, the four topics Smart Farming, Smart Cities, Smart Devices and Smart Traffic were explored concerning their potential for official statistics.
