Research data management (RDM) is an important part of any researcher’s work, and good RDM is essential for the reusability of data. While a number of RDM courses already exist, most of them are generic and do not address the specific needs of psychologists. This aligns with anecdotal feedback conducted in workshops within the context of RDM projects (Blask, 2021, 2022, Blask et al., 2023). The aim of the present project is to design an RDM course specifically addressing the needs of psychological researchers, which would help researchers to design an RDM pipeline aligned with their already existing research pipelines. To this end, the needs of psychological researchers at all levels and (quantitative) sub-disciplines must be adequately assessed. In order to assess these needs, one strategy which we aim to follow with the present submission is to collect feedback from a large number of researchers on their perceived RDM training needs. Feedback will be collected for three main questions; firstly, to what extent participants already implement RDM practices in their own research, secondly, what are their perceived difficulties in implementing those practices, and finally, whether there is any specific content or tool that should be prioritised so that they would benefit from it. The feedback will then be used to inform the design of an RDM training course that adequately meets the needs of quantitative psychological researchers.
