The recently published VDE note “Technical requirements for grid-forming properties including the provision of instantaneous reserve”, specifies which requirements gridforming units have to fulfill in Germany and how these capabilities are proven. The verification process consists of several steps which include measurements as well as simulations with a validated simulation model. This paper summarizes the requirements and highlights the most important steps that manufacturers should take now.
