Energynautics contributed technical expertise to the World Bank–financed Rwanda Urban Mobility Improvement (RUMI) Project through its subcontract with Economic Consulting Associates (ECA). The study assessed the readiness of Rwanda’s energy sector to accommodate electric mobility, with a particular emphasis on battery electric buses (BEBs) at Kigali’s Nyabugogo Multi-Modal Transit Hub. Energynautics conducted an impact study on the distribution grid, including a hosting capacity analysis for large-scale bus depot electrification. In addition, a techno-financial analysis evaluated the potential cost savings of integrating rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems with optional stationary battery storage at the transit hub. These main findings will be presented during the converence, as they provide actionable insights into infrastructure design and grid integration strategies for Rwanda’s transition towards clean, electrified public transportation.
