Implications of E-Mobility on the power system - case study of Rwanda
EMOB25-218
Presented by: Nicolas Jacob
There is an important question related to EV development about where the power will come from and what will be the implications in terms of matching supply and demand. There is also the important spatial dimension of demand and its impact on the electricity transmission and distribution system. This presentation and accompanying report will discuss the analysis of the impact of EVs in the case of Rwanda – following from a study carried out recently by Energynautics and Economic Consulting Associates (ECA) for the World Bank. The study assessed the impact of a range of types of EVs – from electric bicycles to light duty freight vehicles. It assessed the likely impact on power supply requirements for the period through 2050 under 3 different EV uptake scenarios – including on overall demand as well as peak demand. The presentation will also include the results of similar studies carried out for other geographies.
