We evaluate a one-time unconditional cash transfer (≈ EUR 4,000) for individuals experiencing homelessness in Prague, Czechia. In a randomized controlled trial (N=100), participants were randomly assigned to receive the transfer or to a no-transfer control group. Outcomes include housing stability, financial security, employment, food security, health, and subjective well-being. The cash transfer improves housing stability and food security. However, there were no significant effects on mental or physical health. The project is ongoing, and long-term impacts are not yet known. This study provides valuable insights into the role of cash transfers in reducing homelessness and poverty in high-income countries and fills a critical gap in homelessness research in the Czechia.
