As attaining access to the grid becomes increasingly difficult and expensive around Europe, sharing grid connections between multiple renewable energy generators could optimize use of resources and save costs. Especially PV-Wind hybrids show great optimization potential as in many locations the production profiles show good complementarity.

As the approach of overbuilding grid connections is still new in the market most of the established simulation software are focused on one of the two technologies and not the combination of both. Therefore, a need of developing a novel method of calculating the curtailment became necessary.

An overview of important steps for calculating curtailment as well as case studies (European market) will be shown in the presentation.
