Welcome to the 8th International Hybrid Power Plants & Systems Workshop
As we gather here in the breathtaking setting of the Azores for the 8th International Hybrid Power Plants & Systems Workshop, it fills me with immense pleasure to extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you. This workshop is more than just a gathering of experts; it's a step forward in our shared quest for a sustainable energy future
Before we delve into the enriching sessions and discussions that lie ahead, I would like to express heartfelt gratitude to our local cooperation partner, the power utility company EDA (Electricidade dos Açores, S.A.), for their invaluable support in hosting this event. Their commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives, showcased through insightful presentations and the captivating study trip on São Miguel, has truly elevated the educational and diverse nature of this workshop.
As we convene to explore the challenges and opportunities in Hybrid Power Plants, Hybrid Power Systems, Micro-Grids, and Island Power Systems, I eagerly anticipate the exchange of ideas and the fostering of new connections within this community of experts. I want to thank each of you sincerely for being here and adding to the lively atmosphere of this event.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors from already mentioned Workshop Partner EDA to GIGA sponsors ENERCON and Hitachi Energy as well as MEGA sponsors Siemens and Wärtsilä. Furthermore, I’d like to thank both our longtime strategic partner Baywa r.e. and our workshop ambassadors. Thanks to their support and efforts, we are able to offer you a great Workshop experience. This year’s workshop is supported by the Azores, ARE – Alliance for Rural Electrification (Belgium), ESIG – Energy Systems Integration Group (USA), IEC – International Electrotechnical Commission (Switzerland), UL Solutions (USA) and Wind Europe (Belgium). In addition, I'd also like to express gratitude to our media partners of MDPI Solar and MDPI Wind for their support.
I would also like to thank the members of the International Advisory Committee as well as Uta Betancourt, Kathrin Moser, Anke Ost, Regine Horn-Fricke and Sebastian Spohr (all Energynautics, Germany).
Save-the Date for the start of our next Call for Papers in September 2024!
But first, enjoy this event and seize the opportunity to network with your peers!
