In the present world, more than 60 million individuals have been forced from their homes. Although a majority of them still are located nearby many of the danger zones of the world, many strive for starting a new life in safer regions. One of the most flagrant example of such ambitions is the European migrant crisis in 2015 in which more than 1 million asylum seekers reached member countries within the European Union. Even if ambitions to help immigrants considerably vary between states the significant inflow of people to the European Union have posed challenges for many of member countries. In this symposia we address the broad question on how increasing levels of global migration influence decision-making, governance and output of migration and integration policy in receiving countries at national as well as on sub-national and local level. With this we refer to policies both regulating the entrance of immigrants, that is migration policy, and integration of such individuals on the other. We welcome both empirical and theoretical studies that relate to the topic. In addition, we also encourage comparative approaches as well as case studies - regardless if quantitative or qualitative methods are utilized.
