How can a census be carried out during a pandemic when its survey design builds primarily on personal interviews? This presentation will give insight into the challenges the German census, a major-scale project, is facing. We will discuss feasible options available at this stage of planning with the aim of upholding the high quality standards for census data. The focus will be on the impact of alternatives with regard to aspects such as process and data quality, accuracy and project risks.
