EU governments imposed lockdowns on their citizens in order to stop Covid19 from spreading. For employees that needed to supend their activity, governments also enacted temporary relief measures such as short-term work or temporary unemployment schemes. Eurostat started collecting data on this topic. The paper presents the methodological challenges faced and an analysis of results obtained. Most issues come from lack of comparability; and from the total or partial lack of access to the data by the NSIs. The recommendation is to strengthen the links between various institutions, in order to obtain better comparability in this policy relevant domain.
