'Sorry, I have to take care of him: social responsibility and political preferences'
This project studies the redistributive behavior of caregivers and third parties in situations where individuals are either directly or indirectly dependent on the caregivers. More specifically, we aim to contribute to the current debate on preferences for redistribution when manipulating the interconnection between players, i.e., we test how redistribution changes with respect to the level of inherent responsibility between individuals. We study the interplay between redistributive behavior and individuals’ political attitude by gathering Americans’ behavior, confidence in institutions and opinions on several topics including national spending priorities, crime and violence and social mobility.
