Arrabidaea chica (Humb. & Bonpl.) B. Verlot (Bignoniaceae), is employed in folk medicine for wound healing, inflammation, and gastrointestinal colic. Twenty four Wistar rats (~250 g) were orally administrated with 100mg/kg A.chica standardized extract. Plasma and urine were collected throughout 8 h after oral administration. Blood samples were taken from the vein femoral of rats into heparinized Eppendorf tubes every half hour after oral administration. and analyzed by HPLC-MS2. Methanol was added to samples, mixed in vortexed and further centrifugation at 14,000 rpm for 5 min. The supernatant was transferred to a clean tube, dried under nitrogen. An 10 µL sample was injected into LC–MS/MS ((TOF) mass analyzers system. The results, in positive mode, showed carajurin for urine. In plasma highlighted compounds with m/z 711 and m/z 647 after 30min but no carajurin was observed. Further analysis with HPLC–MS2 and selected ion monitoring are needed for better understanding.
